A backpack makes 3D maps of buildings with lasers by scanning a building’s interior and a simultaneously taking photographs of the environment. The photographs are mapped onto the 3D model created from the scans to make it photorealistic.

Radius Music combines ideas of cartography and graphic scores as a means to produce sound. The device itself is an autonomous revolving machine that reads a distance value inreal-time between itself and another object. As the machine slowly rotates and scans theroom, it takes this radial distance and outputs it as a relative sonic frequency and acorresponding visual score.

Tactile Hyperglobe [PDF] is a visualization of the digital image on a physical (touch-sensitive) globe body in real space. The interaction between user (hand movement) and globe is controlled by video cameras and image recognition. By means of a stylized globe users can zoom in on any location in the world and obtain minutely detailed pictures.

Fractional Angular Analysis visualizes the network structure of the graph that is formed from the network of streets. This work is derived from a set of network theories in architecture known as Space Syntax. It is generally found that these colors which are formed from a measurement of graph structure correlate well with observed patterns of pedestrian movement.
